Shanghai Municipal Health Commission updated the following information at the press conference on controlling COVID-19 in Shanghai this morning:

 

From 00:00 to 24:00 on January 26, Shanghai reported another local case. The information is as follows:

 

The case, a resident of Huangpu District, is a close contact of the case confirmed on January 21 (They are siblings) and has been under centralized quarantine for medical observation since January 21. The case developed symptoms during the quarantine and was diagnosed as a confirmed COVID-19 case after comprehensive assessment of epidemiological history, clinical data, laboratory testing results and imaging examination.

 

We noticed that some videos went viral last night. It is our disease prevention and control staff busy with the screening, epidemiological survey, sample collection and disinfection of the places and personnel involved in the videos pursuant to the requirements of the joint prevention and control mechanism. Therefore, we ask our citizens not to panic. As of now, the samples collected from related personnel and environment have tested negative in the nucleic acid testing.

 

The contacts of the confirmed case mentioned above have been placed under centralized isolation for medical observation. We have completed terminal disinfection in the places where the case went. At present, all the 16 local confirmed cases are being treated in Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center. Among them, 14 are moderate cases, and two are mild cases. All of them have received treatments based on their symptoms.

 

As of 24:00 on January 26, we have traced a total of 380 close contacts and placed them under centralized isolation. In total, 370 of them tested negative in the nucleic acid testing, and ten of them were diagnosed as confirmed cases (they have been included in the 16 confirmed cases reported to the public).

 

We have also traced a total of 1,021 close contacts of the close contacts, and put them under centralized isolation. All of them tested negative after undergoing the nucleic acid testing.

 

We have screened a total of 41,038 related personnel and deployed corresponding management and control measures. Among them, 41,025 tested negative, and three were diagnosed as confirmed cases (they have been included in the 16 confirmed cases reported to the public). There are still ten related personnel undergoing the testing.

 

As for the related articles and environment, we have screened 4,949 samples. In total, 4,914 of them tested negative, and 35 tested positive and relate to the residences and work places of the confirmed cases.
