According to Shanghai Municipal Leading Group on Preventing and Controlling COVID-19, Shanghai will start the registration and appointment for foreigners aged 18 and above in the city to receive the COVID-19 booster shot, and for foreign minors aged 3-11 in the city to receive the COVID-19 vaccination from 20:00 on January 25, 2022 pursuant to the plan of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council.
The vaccination for both two groups will be rolled out from January 26, 2022, and the rules are as follows:
Based on the principle of “giving a voluntary and informed consent on vaccination at their own costs and risks”, the foreigners aged 18 and above who would like to take the booster shot voluntarily and the foreign minors aged 3-11 who would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine voluntarily in Shanghai may schedule the appointment for the vaccination on the "Health Cloud" platform with their passports, international travel documents or ID documents. As for the foreign minors aged 3-11, the information of their parents or legal guardians (including names, ID documents and contact information) shall also be provided.
In case you are from either of the abovesaid two groups, you may go to the designated vaccination station with your passport, international travel documents or ID document according to your appointment information. On the site, you should present the "Vaccination Bar Code" and sign the Informed Consent for COVID-19 Vaccination and Letter of Commitment on Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine before being inoculated pursuant to the guideline of our medical staff. After the inoculation, you shall strictly follow the rules to stay in the observation area of the designated station for another 30 minutes.
In case you are from the group of foreign minors aged 3-11, you should bring your vaccination certificate (if applicable) to the designated vaccination station in the company of your parent(s) or legal guardian(s). In case that your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) cannot accompany, they may authorize other representative(s) to come with you and sign the letter of authorization, Informed Consent for COVID-19 Vaccination, and Letter of Commitment on Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine.
You should pay close attention to your physical condition for 14 days after inoculation. In case of any serious adverse reaction, you should go to the hospital to seek medical attention promptly.
The vaccines that we are currently administering are domestic COVID-19 inactivated vaccines, and the cost is RMB 100 yuan per dose. Those foreigners covered by China's social security medical insurance program are entitled to the same treatments as their local peers in the city and may receive the inoculation free of charge. Those uninsured foreigners will be vaccinated at their own costs.
