Shanghai Municipal Health Commission updated the following information at the press conference on COVID-19 control in Shanghai this morning:

 

From 00:00 to 24:00 on February 4, Shanghai reported another one local case. The information is as follows:

The case, a resident of Pudong New Area, is a close contact of a confirmed case and was identified via active testing and screening. The person was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID-19 after comprehensive assessment of epidemiological survey, clinical data, laboratory testing and imaging examination results. Pursuant to epidemiological survey, this case is on the same transmission chain as the previously diagnosed 21 ones in Shanghai.

As of 08:00 on February 5, we have traced a total of 34 close contacts of the above case and placed them under centralized isolation. All of them tested negative in the nucleic acid testing.

 

We have also traced a total of 346 close contacts of the close contacts, and put them under centralized isolation. Among them, 304 tested negative in the nucleic acid testing. The rest 42 are undergoing testing. 

We have screened a total of 3,797 related personnel and placed them under corresponding management. Among them, 3,790 tested negative, and the rest seven are undergoing testing.

As for related articles and environment, we have screened 569 samples. In total, 563 of them tested negative, and six tested positive. All the positive samples are related to the residence of the confirmed case.

 

We have completed terminal disinfection in the places where the case went and stayed.

 

Upon the emergence of the newly confirmed case, the municipal- and district-level authorities acted promptly by assembling a joint expert team to carry out comprehensive epidemiological survey, trace and screen related personnel. These authorities also took corresponding disease prevention and control measures on related personnel and environment.

 

The case announced today, together with the 21 cases reported previously, made the total number of local cases in Shanghai rise to 22. All the confirmed cases are being treated in Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center based on their symptoms. Among them, 19 are moderate cases and three are mild cases.

According to the requirements of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council and the decision made by the Shanghai Municipal Leading Group on Preventing and Controlling COVID-19 upon deliberation, we hereby revise up Phase I of Xingaoyuan Garden, Gaodong Town of Pudong New Area to a medium-risk region. In principle, the people from the medium-risk regions should not leave Shanghai. 

 

On January 22, we identified Salvo Hotel Shanghai as a medium-risk region. From 18:00 on February 5, we will revise down Salvo Hotel Shanghai to a low-risk region based on the requirements of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council and the decision made by the Shanghai Municipal Leading Group on Preventing and Controlling COVID-19 upon deliberation.

 

The risk level of other regions in Shanghai remains unchanged.
