上海市白玉兰国际友好交流基金会(SHMF)是上海唯一以促进城市对外交流为基本使命的慈善公益基金会。

  Shanghai Magnolia Foundation (SHMF), short for “Shanghai Magnolia Foundation for International Exchange”, is the only charity foundation in Shanghai with the basic mission of promoting international exchange.

  上海白玉兰基金会的前身是上海国际友好城市交流事业发展基金会(简称“上海友城基金会”)。1990年，为推动上海进一步对外开放，由上海市人民政府外事办公室牵头，全市各行各业20多个单位共同发起成立了上海首个以促进对外交流为基本使命的基金会。上海友城基金会一经成立便在上海的对外交往中扮演了重要角色，成为本市公共外交和民间外交的活跃力量。

  History: The predecessor of Shanghai Magnolia Foundation is Shanghai Foundation for the Development of Exchange with International Friendly Cities (SHFDEIFC). In 1990, to further Shanghai's opening-up to the outside world, more than 20 organizations from various industries in the city, with the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government as the lead organization, jointly established SHFDEIFC. Since its establishment, SHFDEIFC had played an important role in Shanghai's international exchange and become an active force of public diplomacy and non-governmental diplomacy in Shanghai.

  上海白玉兰基金会传承和发扬上海友城基金会的光荣历史和优秀传统，上海白玉兰基金会在上海市人民政府外事办公室的指导下， 按照上海建设中国特色社会主义国际化大都市的总体要求和上海在国家对外交往中所处的重要地位，积极推动上海与国际社会的交流与合作。

  Major operations: Under the direct guidance of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and through close cooperation with all circles of society in Shanghai, Shanghai Magnolia Foundation proactively integrates domestic and overseas resources to build a platform for international exchange and cooperation and to support and serve the exchange and cooperation between Shanghai and overseas cities, international organizations and friendly people.
